Mosaic knitting, also known as slip-stitch knitting, is a colorwork technique that uses multiple colors in the knitted fabric. Unlike stranded colorwork, you work with only one color at a time, making it more approachable and easier to manage. Simple slipped stitches are used to create striking geometric patterns with minimal complexity.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Knit a mosaic swatch using written instructions.

Learn to read mosaic charts and knit a swatch using that.

Knit a stockinette mosaic swatch using the same charts.
SKILLS REQUIRED TO TAKE THIS CLASS Knit, purl, and slip stitches. Students should be able to knit evenly and have a general understanding of gauge and tension.

Materials: Materials are purchased separately for classes & KAL's. We appreciate you purchasing yarn from Fillory. It supports the shop & small businesses.
Yarn:
- Small quantities of DK/Sport/Fingering yarn in 2 contrasting colors for swatching. (approx 25g each) Strong contrast between the two colors is encouraged so you can easily read and understand your stitches. To make sure there is enough contrast, take a picture of your skeins and convert it to grayscale. One color should appear much lighter than the other in the picture. Our staff is happy to help you with yarn choices.
Needle:
- US 6 / 4mm (for DK, sport) or US 4 / 3.5mm (for fingering). It may be straight needles or circular needles min 16".
- 3 Stitch markers
