Crochet lace or openwork is a type of decorative fabric made with a combination of basic crochet stitches and intentional open spaces. In this class we will learn a few of those stitches and make a crochet lace scarf.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN…

In this class we'll practice a few shell-based crochet lace stitches. We'll learn to read the pattern instructions, to identify motifs, count rows. Students will learn to make a scarf out of a stitch pattern and yarn of their choice.

Instructor: Kavitha

Class Prerequisite: You must be comfortable with slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet.

Materials are purchased separately for classes & KAL's. We appreciate you purchasing yarn from Fillory. It supports the shop & small businesses.

Yarn: 1 skein of fingering or lace weight yarn to make scarf. If you use sport weight you may need more than one skein. Our FILLORY staff is happy to help you pick something you will love.

TIPS TO CHOOSE YOUR YARN Feel free to practice the stitches on any yarn you might have on hand. But for your scarf projects, finer yarns like sport, fingering, or lace would work well as they drape better than heavier weight yarns. Also plant based fibers and blends are suitable for summer projects. Variegated, tonal, speckled, sparkly yarns are all great choices to make your scarf with.

Hooks: 2.75 mm ~ 4 mm hooks are recommended for different yarn weights. Experiment with the hook size until you get a fabric you like.
