If you have just learned to knit and are looking to improve your skills, you might want to consider this project. 'Look I made a scarf' is designed to practice the basic skills acquired in the Beginner Class - Long Tail cast-on, Knit stitch, Purl stitch, regular bind-off. It is also carefully designed to introduce the beginner knitter to an array of essential, next-level skills that significantly improve their confidence for future projects.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS CLASS

Reading a knitting pattern - to plan your project, understand pattern terminology.

Stitch patterns - Garter, stockinette, 1X1 ribbing, seed stitch, garter ribbing.

Reading your knitting and dealing with common knitting mistakes - counting rows and stitches in various stitch patterns, tinking, lifelines.

Basic introduction to finishing techniques - selvedge stitches, blocking.
Prerequisite for this class: Students must be comfortable with the Long tail cast-on, Knit, Purl, regular bind-off.
MATERIALS: Materials are not included in class.

2 skeins of worsted weight yarn, aprox. 400 yards. We suggest using a lighter color yarn so you are able to see your stitches easily. These are all good choices Malabrigo Rios, Cascade 220, Plymouth Worsted, Blue sky 150g, Plymouth Galway.

US 8/5 mm straight needles or US 8 (5 mm) 16"/40 cm or longer circular needles to work flat.

Crochet hook E/3.5 or G/4 mm or a fix it tool.
